Our Work.
It is estimated that 12 people below the age of 35 die every week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions, many of them with no prior symptoms.
Source - The British Heart Foundation
Since 2018, Jay’s Aim has been on a mission to reduce this number; with the help of generous supporters like you, we’re starting to make a difference..

Jay’s Aim provides free-to-attend CPR and defibrillator training throughout South-West England.
What we’ve achieved so far…

20,007
Number of young

228
Number of

360
Number of cardiac

Awareness.
The purpose of Jay’s Aim is to prevent young people dying from undiagnosed heart conditions in South-West England. We believe that the most powerful tool at our disposal is increased public awareness, so we work hard to promote wider knowledge and understanding of little-known cardiac conditions and their symptoms.

Training.
Unfortunately, we can't predict when someone is going to have a sudden cardiac arrest, or choose who is going to be with them when it happens. However, we can try to educate as many people as possible about what to do in an emergency; with this in mind, Jay’s Aim provides free-to-attend CPR and defibrillator training throughout South-West England.

Defibrillators.
After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces someone’s chance of survival. Jay’s Aim has provided public access defibrillators (PADs) in more than 140 locations throughout South-West England. By providing these PADS, we hope to increase the likelihood of a defibrillator being available in an emergency cardiac-arrest situation.

Book a training session
Our training sessions are designed to be fun, combining a hands-on, interactive approach with up-to-the minute technology.
Public Access Defibrillators
Funded.
Jay’s Aim is trying to establish the areas most in need of a defibrillator in South-West England. If you would like to apply for a defibrillator for your sports club, place of education or other area where you exercise or socialise.
Loan.
We provide a free to use defibrillator loan scheme. The scheme allows sports clubs, schools, businesses and community groups to loan a defibrillator from Jay's AIM for any one off events that you may be running.
Buy.
Unfortunately, as a growing charity it’s not always possible to fund all of the PAD applications we receive. However, as a non-profit organisation we are able to offer market-leading equipment at much lower prices than commonly found elsewhere.
Social.

Defib no 226: Grand Western Canal, Tiverton
Another one of the defibs funded by the amazing attendees of the exeterpropertyball this summer! 🩵
This one was very generously funded by Everys Solicitors LLP and is positioned at the Grand Western Canal carpark in Tiverton.
It was a real team effort with Everys Solicitors fully funding the CPAD and Cllr Colin Slade kindly funding the install with part of his locality budget. A big thank you must also go to Mark Baker at DCC for organising many of the logistics. 👏🏼🙌🏽

Defib no 223: The Square, Wells, Somerset
Another defib fully funded by the brilliant fundraising that the team at Bupa Dental did in support of Jay’s Aim. 🚲🚣♀️
This one is located outside The Square, Wells. Thank you to Chis Borrison and wellsrotary for funding and organising the install so efficiently.

#jaysaim #wells #somerset #defib #padA massive thank you to guildhallshopanddine in Exeter for housing our ‘money spinner’ for the past 4 years! 👀
It was quite a mission to try and move it when we collected it recently. We were flabbergasted to find out that it had a whopping £1,936.75 inside! 🤯🩵🙌🏼
The total included €141, lots of foreign coins, 57 McDonald’s sauce sachets, and probably another 50+ items of rotten food! 👀🤢😂🤣
#jaysaim #guildhallshoppingcentre #thankyouDefib no 222: Sidmouth Police Station
Another Community Public Access defibrillator (CPAD) funded by the brilliant fundraising that bupadentalcareuk SW Practices completed for us! 🩵🚴♀️🚣
This one will soon be installed at Sidmouth Police Station. If the defib is needed in an emergency before then the police have it at the desk, so please go in and ask. 👮♂️
It was fantastic to meet Alice (and her son River) from BUPA again today after she was such a motivational and inspiring part of the fundraising team. A big thank you also to PC Tom Driver who has worked hard to complete the necessary paperwork in order for this to be okayed. 👍🏼👏🏼

@abbotskerswell_cc funded this CPAD themselves following a well attended quiz night organised by Steve Cooper. 🤔❔
It’s situated on the club house in an ‘unlocked’ cabinet making it accessible to all. Jay’s Aim ensured that club members were confident to use it in an emergency with a training session held at the start of this years cricket season. ⛑️

#jaysaim #defib #CPAD #abbotskerswellDefib no 218: Bridge Motor Cycles, Exeter.
This is the first of many community public access defibs (CPAD’s) that have been funded following ‘pledges’ made by local businesses at the amazing @exeterpropertyball in July this year.
@bridge_motorcycles was established over 70 years ago and is located in Alphington, on the edge of Marsh Barton industrial estate. They also have the busy ‘Cafe 53’ onsite, so it made complete sense for Bridge to use their ‘pledge’ from the ball at their own site.
Pictured are Dan and Lee Anthony (Directors) with the CPAD.

We recently part funded this portable defibrillator for Exeter Network Church, with the church funding the remaining cost.
The church hold lots of different events on various sites across the city. It therefore made sense for this defib to be portable, as some of their events take place inside, whilst others are outside.
Training took place on Monday night at St Stephen’s Church in the city centre. 👏🏼⛑️
#jaysaim #defib #exeter #training #cprWishing Carla Stapleton the best of luck ahead of today’s London Marathon which she is running in aid of Jay’s Aim!
We hope you have the best day and really enjoy the moment. You’ve certainly put the training in! 😅
Carla is running in memory of a young person that her family and friends lost to a sudden cardiac arrest recently. 12 young people die every single week in the UK to a sudden cardiac arrest. It’s amazing fundraising like hers that helps charities like ours try to reduce this number! 💙🏃🏼♀️

#openday #independentschool #independenteducation #springfair #dogshow #devon💥£23,000💥 We recently collected a cheque from Bupa Dental Care ‘Area 14 South West’ for a staggering £23,000! 😳
Back in the autumn they took on and completed an incredible fundraising challenge that included no less than 20 of their SW based practices.
The challenge - to row/cycle from Bupa Dental Care Penzance to Bupa Dental Care Poundbury, which was more than 800 miles!
We would like to say a big thank you to Jonathan Sowerbutts who managed the challenge and organised many of the logistics involved and also to Janice Swatton from Bupa Dental Care Bude for nominating Jay’s Aim! Both absolute heroes along with all that took part! 🦸🏼🦸🏽♀️

This CPAD has actually been up and registered on ‘The Circuit’ for well over a year, but escaped the net in terms of an announcement!
Back in 2022 West Exe Youth Football got in touch to say they would like to make their defib accessible to the community and we were more than happy to help by providing a cabinet.
It’s located at the changing rooms of the busy Cowick Barton Playing Fields and is available 24/7. 💙👏🏼

#jaysaim #CPR #defib #cpad #plymouthDefib no 194 Plymouth Vanguard American Football Team
We were recently contacted by Ben and Jos from the newly formed @plymouthvanguard American football team.
From a personal experience they know how important defibrillators can be and wanted to ensure the safety of the 30/40 players on each side for each of their match days.
We were of course, only to happy to help and have part funded a defibrillator for them with a contribution also coming from the club.
Last Saturday was the clubs first official game and it was great to see the new defib on the sidelines in case of emergency.
We wish them all the best for the rest of the season and look forward to putting some training in place for the team and other members! 🏈🇺🇸💙🙌🏼

#jaysaim #makingadifference #lifesaversDefib no 205: Hartland Primary School
Hartland Primary School are another school to take us up on our ‘Free Cabinets for Schools’ scheme.
The eagle eyed amongst you may notice that it’s not one of our normal cabinets. The school had actually already purchased a cabinet to make their government funded defib into a CPAD, so in this instance we helped by picking up some of the bill.
Pictured are headteacher Mrs Bye with the Headboy and Headgirl. 💙👏🏼

#jaysaim #defib #cpad #holsworthy #devonDefib no 203: Coaver Gerries Cricket Club
We helped provide this defibrillator at a reduced cost to Cover Gerries Cricket Club during last years cricket season. The club fully funded the defib themselves and invited us in to run a training session to ensure everyone knew how to use it should they ever need to.
The team are pictured with the defib at the start of this new season. We wish them the best of luck! 🏏👏🏼🙌🏼💙
#jaysaim #cricket #aed #defibWe’d like to welcome and introduce our new trustee Jack Cowling…
Hi, I’m Jack. After being raised in Bude I returned to the town with my wife and four children after a decade of living in London. With family and community being the key reason for our move ‘home’, I’m excited to be a part of a charity having a direct impact in prevention of loss of life here in the South West.
Jack was a close friend of Jay’s and brings a wealth of business knowledge with him. We have no doubt he’ll be a valuable addition to the team!
#jaysaim #welcome #thankyouDefib no 202: Woodbury C of E Primary School

Defib no 199: Caen Primary School, Braunton
We were delighted to hear that Caen Primary School wanted to make their government funded defibrillator available to everyone in their community 24/7 using our schools FREE cabinet scheme.
Less than a month later its up and registered on ‘The Circuit’ (National Defibrillator Network) 👏🏼🙌🏼
Signs and training to follow…
#jaysaim #cpad #defib #braunton #devonWe know it’s a big ask, but we’re looking for some amazing Plymouth based electricians who might be able to give up their time and skills to generously help their local community?
Our registered charity are in the process of donating a number of publicly accessible defibrillators to local communities and schools in the Plymouth area.
Please get in touch if you think you could help with the install of one or more of them? Your time and help could make your community a much safer place to live!
We would of course be more than happy to include your name/business on a plaque that will accompany each defib and give you a ‘shout out’ on social media.
#jaysaim #volunteers #givingback #helpingyourcommunityA big thank you to everyone who took part in the Locker Stash Select v LooseHeadz charity rugby game at Salcombe RFC on Good Friday.
We’re proud to be one of the charities that Locker Stash support along with the brilliant Pete’s Dragons.
A scintillating game of rugby led to a win for the Locker Stash select team, but more importantly some vital awareness and funds were raised for charity! 💙🙌🏼
#jaysaim #lockerstash #rugby #rfu #charityWe were delighted to be presented with a cheque for £1,500 from Newton Abbot Rock Choir South Devon • Choirs led by Richard Toomer last week.

This defib was fully funded by the brilliant Tri-Hards Community Fitness Project with a contribution from RV.ONE -NEW. It’s located (and kindly looked after) by Bumble and Sea at Orcombe Point, Exmouth.
As always, we hope it’s never needed, but it’s great to know it’s there keeping everyone at that end of the seafront safe. Free to attend training will hopefully be provided soon. 💙🙌🏼
#jaysaim #defibrillator #community #exmouthdevon #exmouthbeach #teamwork #DefibsSaveLives #thankyouIt’s always upsetting to see this kind of mindless damage to our public access defibrillators.
Thankfully the brilliant team at InExeter who own this defib had it back up and emergency ready again in less than 24hrs! 🚨🙌🏼😊
We know the more we can get out and educate the public, the less likely this will happen again in future! The mission continues…
#jaysaim #onamission #exeter #damage #defibLots of CPR and defib training has taken place in the past week or two, with sessions at Sidford Tennis Club, House of Marbles, Broadhempston Parish Council and Teign School.
Well done to everyone that has taken part. We hope you feel confident to act in an emergency should you ever need to! 🚨⛑️💙

#jaysaim #cpad #defib #community #thankyouDefib no 224: Hydro-hub, Seale Hayne (Newton Abbot)
This defib and its installation was fully funded by the fundraising efforts of Carla Stapleton who ran the London Marathon for Jay’s Aim earlier this year. 🏃🏼♀️🙌🏼
Carla’s fundraising was in memory of Dan ‘Colours’, a young man who tragically lost his life to an unknown heart condition. It was an honour to have some of Dan’s close friends, including Carla’s sister, Jodie, on site as the PAD was unveiled on Saturday. 🩵
A massive thank you to Carla for her incredible efforts in memory of Dan and to everyone who sponsored her! 👏🏼👍🏼
#jaysaim #pad #defibWe were honoured to receive a donation of £700 last week following the second year of the Richard Wilkinson memorial football game between RNAS Culdrose Vets football team and Helston Vets football team.
Richard was 48 when he passed away suddenly and without any previous symptoms of a heart attack in August 2022.
The exhibition game was made up of those who had played with Wilkie in the past, as well as friends and family (his brother, son and daughter’s boyfriend). The day also included children’s activities and music.
Richard’s daughter was introduced to Jay’s Aim whilst at Rosewarne College and chose us as the charity she wanted to support at the memorial match alongside the British Heart Foundation.
Thank you 🙏🏼🩵
#jaysaim #thankyou #wow #memorial🌏INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION🌎
We are massively grateful to Ben Clayton for flying over to Athens at the weekend to present a research paper at the 2024 European Resuscitation Conference that Jay’s Aim helped with. 🇬🇷🛩️
Ben a cardiologist, and also the Cardiac Arrest Lead for the Peninsula Cardiac Network looked at ‘Schools and the availability of publicly accessible defibrillators in areas of high socioeconomic deprivation in England’.
It was a privilege for some of our work with schools to be acknowledged and a pleasure to play a part in the study!
Thank you to Ben for bringing this to the attention of a worldwide audience! 🌎🙌🏼
#jaysaim #defibs #CPAD #padIt was a pleasure to meet James Taylor from Bournemouth University International on Friday.
James came down to interview our Charity Manager/CEO Dan, for his university project named ‘Heart Break’. The project is investigating the provision in place to prevent sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in the young.
James sadly lost good friend Dylan Rich to a SCA whilst playing football in Nottingham in 2021. 💔
A big thank you to Exeter City Football Club for letting us film at St James Park and to Chris from the club for giving up his time. 👏🏼🩵

This community public access defibrillator was donated to stpetersprepschool by the Galan-Davis family. Lee and Kate Galan-Davis were very good friends of Jay’s and wanted to ensure that the school and community that their children attend is as heart safe as possible. 🩵

We were invited along as one of four finalists in the ‘Community’ category. Unfortunately we didn’t win on this occasion. Congratulations to the amazing parkyblinders Boxing Academy who were deserved winners. 👏🏼🙌🏼
#jaysaim #awards #thankyouThe eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted that the forecast looks a little damp for our Family Colour Run at Greendale Farm Shop tomorrow. 🤷🏻😂 ☔️

#jaysaim #lifeskill #vital #free #trainingA big thank you to gilbertandvanstone for lending us a TV and stand for our sessions this weekend at Gone Wild Festival Devon!
#jaysaim #thankyou #generosityDefib no 213: Fowler Financial Planning, Magdalen Rd, Exeter (Replacement)
We recently posted that the defib at fowler_fp had gone missing and presumed stolen.
Not wanting to leave a CPAD unavailable we replaced the defib and changed the door over to a locked version at the end of last week. It is now emergency ready again and back on ‘The Circuit’ (999 registered).
Although not a new defib, we have decided to include ‘replacement’ defibs in our tally of defibs provided by the charity (in this case no 213) as we feel it’s important fundraisers and supporters of Jay’s Aim see how their funds are spent. We just hope this doesn’t become a regular thing, as we’d much prefer to be using the funds on new venues!!! 😒😢
#Defibrillators #CPAD #JaysAim #MagdalenRoad #Community #savinglivesDefib no 212: The W Club, Bude.
The wclubbude recently got in touch to say they would like to make the defib (that we previously helped provide) into a public access defibrillator.
We were more than happy to help and part funded this heated cabinet for them. They’ve registered it on ‘The Circuit’ making it accessible to not only their guests, but also any members of the public that might need it in an emergency. Great job all around! 👏🏼👍🏼🩵
#jaysaim #defib #CPAD #bude #cornwallWe’re very sad to report that the community public access defib based at fowler_fp on Magdalen Road, Exeter, appears to have been stolen.
It’s so frustrating as there is no re-sale market for defibrillators and it’s highly unlikely someone would steal it for their own personal benefit (you just have to ask if you did need one)! 🤷🏻
We will always make sure that stolen defibs are replaced, but it’s disappointing that a defib that could have been used in another location is now being used as a replacement. We will also now need to change the cabinet to a locked version. Locked cabinets are slower to access in emergencies and can sometimes be the difference between life and death. 😢
Please do get in touch if you can help or have any information.

Another School has made their defibrillator available to the whole community using our FREE cabinets for schools scheme!
This was a real team effort with Landscore Primary headteacher Debbie Main’s father Robert Smalley funding the defibrillator, Jay’s Aim providing the cabinet and local firm, Diamond Renewable Technologies kindly installing it for free. 👏🏼🩵
Jay’s Aim CPR and defib training took place for all Yr5 and Yr6 students a couple of weeks ago. 🙌🏼⛑️

#jaysaim #crediton #devon #CPAD #defib🤬Vandalised Defib Cabinet😡
You may remember that we posted this time last year to say that Twyford Spartans Youth Football Club’s, Jay’s Aim defib cabinet at Amory Park in Tiverton had been vandalised and spray painted white.
Unfortunately the cabinet stopped working shortly after. We obviously didn’t want to leave the club without a working cabinet so donated a new one to them.
You can imagine their frustration when they recently found the new cabinet had been forced open and hit with a rock multiple times breaking one of the hinges. 😢
Thank fully we’ve been up to Tiverton today to fix it so it’s now back up and running! 😀🙌🏼🩵
#jaysaim #mindless #pleasethink #communityA big thank you to David Wilson Homes Exeter for recently donating £1,500 to Jay’s Aim! 🙌🏼

A great result on and off the pitch with the Exeter Chiefs Women winning 59-27 against Leicester Tigers.
#jaysaim #volunteer #support #chiefs #rugbyIt’s our 6th Birthday!!🎈🎁🎂🎉
Everything we do in Jay’s name is to try and prevent young people in SW England dying from sudden cardiac arrests.
To date we’ve provided over 200 CPAD defibrillators, trained over 20,000 people in CPR and funded 360 heart screenings for young people (including a session for 200 people in place for this September).
All this hard work will never bring Jay back to us, but hopefully it will prevent other families and friends from going through the heartbreak of losing someone so young.
Please share to help spread the word! 💙📢
#jaysaim #makingadifference #support #charityCan you help us out? 📢
We are still looking for more volunteers to help us bucket collect on Sunday 2nd June when Exeter Chiefs Women will be taking on Leicester Tigers at 15.00.
You get to watch what promises to be an awesome match in the main stand, whilst also massively helping Jay’s Aim. If you are over 16 and are available between 13.30-17.30 please drop us a message. 💙

🎊 Defib no 200: The Courtenay Centre, Newton Abbot 🎉
💥The big 200 is up!💥
Jay - we hope you would be proud of what we try to achieve in your name! 💙
Fittingly, this CPAD is a really good example of community spirit and exactly what Jay’s Aim is all about!
This busy Community Centre was chosen as a location and fully funded by the brilliant Newton Abbot Rock Choir through a range of events and performances.
A registered charity itself The Courtenay Centre welcomes local people, charities, groups and organisations to use their space and is also in a very busy area of Newton Abbot.
To complete the theme of community generosity Sherwoods SW Ltd came out and installed the cabinet without charge. 🙌🏼
Please share and ask others to give Jay’s Aim a follow. Here’s to another 100! 🍾

Kingsteignton Tennis Club is a busy venue with members ranging from 4yrs right up to 80+ yrs. An LTA qualified coach runs lessons most days and members frequent the club from the early hours right into the evening.
It wasn’t possible to make this defib publicly accessible, but the defib, based in the clubhouse, is available whenever members are present. The defib was part funded by Jay’s Aim and part funded by the club. 🙌🏼🎾
CPR and defib training takes place this Monday at The Avenue Church, Newton Abbot.

The Venue is a popular leisure destination that receives thousands of visitor's every week. Although Cribbs has its own defibrillators at the Mall, this area of individual outlets did not have good access to a publicly accessible defibrillator.
